Quentin Blake and Me Live Portraits

Live Portraits for The Lowry Theatre, Salford

Over this summer I worked with the Lowry Theatre for the first time on a dream project. I was invited to come along to complete three live portrait sessions of visitors to the Quentin Blake and Me exhibition. As someone who grew up loving reading and wants to break into the children’s picture book industry, this was a dream job for me! I remember receiving a big selection of Roald Dahl books for Christmas one year as a child, of course illustrated by Quentin Blake. And I fell in love with these books. Therefore, I definitely believe that Quentin Blake had a huge influence on my interest in children’s book illustration from a very early age. During the three days of work, I illustrated many visitors of numerous ages, capturing them in my own unique style. I worked with fine-liner pens and coloured pencils to capture everyone in a quick and expressive way.
