In April 2026, I attended SHiFT’s half day workshop in Manchester focused around ‘Child Centred Policing in Practice’. The event brought together a range of professionals from police officers to social workers to create a space where collaboration could happen with the shared aim of improving the police custody system for children. The day was extremely reflective, focusing on what boundaries could get in the way of achieving our shared goal and closed on an inspiring insights to action.
I documented the day through live illustration digitally, using Procreate, an iPad and Apple Pencil to live illustrate the day as it unfolded. With the client, I settled on a bright colour palette to reflect the energy in the room, particularly making use of SHiFT’s bright pink brand colour as the background colour of the piece. A particular highlight of the day to live scribe was the performance of a child’s real-life experience of going through police custody, really showcasing their lived experience through the actor.
